Sonny's CarWash College Marks 20 Years of Training the Industry

"I can't believe it's been 20 years. It's all gone by like a blur," said Bob Fox, SVP of CarWash College. "When we started this back in 2006, our classroom was a conference room inside the Sonny's building, and the lab was a row of equipment laid out on the warehouse floor. There was no air conditioning. Attendance was sparse for the first year. Once word got out that we were teaching real repairs, strategies, and maintenance, the seats filled in a hurry."

Today, CarWash College operates two dedicated training facilities — one at Sonny's headquarters in Tamarac, FL, and another at its Phoenix, AZ distribution center. Each facility accommodates more than 40 students and features a fully operational 130-foot Sonny's tunnel for hands-on instruction.

The program has continued to evolve alongside the operators it serves. More than 15,000 students have attended classes in person, while tens of thousands more have completed online coursework.
