Sonny’s Enterprises and Sonny’s Car Wash College announced the 2025 Instructor and Tech Support award winners.
Luis Hernandez is the Car Wash College Instructor of the Year for 2025. Luis was presented the Shawn R. Brown Award for Instructional Excellence by Curt Hutchins, Sonny’s CEO, and Bob Fox, SVP of Sonny’s Car Wash College, at a luncheon.
“Choosing an Instructor of the Year is usually one of the hardest decisions I have to make. This year, Luis made it much easier for me, as his instruction has led to numerous positive comments from the students. He truly does exemplify what CarWash College is about, and I’m proud to have him on our instructional staff. He is also only the second instructor to win this award multiple times,” explained Fox.
Previous winners include Jorge Jaramillo, Victor Alonso, Richard Ovalles, Nick Kerns, Mike Berlin, Ruben Guerrero, and Tyler Davidson.
The Shawn R. Brown Award for Instructional Excellence is given each year in memory of Shawn Brown, a former Car Wash College instructor whose life was cut tragically short.
The Car Wash College “Rookie of the Year” award was presented to Greg Horn.
“Greg came into CarWash College with his hair on fire from his very first session, and the students were immediately drawn by his energy. He added instant value to the classes. They say some are born to teach. I believe Greg is one of those people, and our students derive the benefit of it,” added Fox.
The “Sonny Fazio Award for Technical Expertise” was awarded to Tyler Davidson.
“The Car Wash College Instructors are also our Tech Support agents. At Sonny’s, we’re very fortunate to have the very best techs in the industry. With that comes requests from internal and external customers to send them into the field to troubleshoot, install equipment, or, sometimes, just to offer advice. In 2025, Tyler probably spent more time on the road than on the phone, but if it leads to happy customers, Tyler is all in. He is a very worthy recipient,” Fox said.
