El Car Wash Michigan Expands with Sterling Heights Opening
El Car Wash, the official car wash of the Detroit Lions, celebrated the grand opening of its fourth El Car Wash Michigan location recently in Sterling Heights, Michigan. The two-day community event brought together local families, students, leaders and business owners, and raised funds to support the Stevenson High School Marching Band.
“Introducing El Car Wash to Sterling Heights means more than opening a new location, it’s about investing in our new neighbors that make this community special,” said Ryan Anderson, CMO of El Car Wash. “The Stevenson High School marching band represents the heart and spirit of Sterling Heights, and we’re honored to play a role in helping their program thrive as we celebrate this new chapter.”
To celebrate its debut in Sterling Heights, El Car Wash pledged to donate $1 for every car washed during opening weekend. The pledge supported the Stevenson High School Band Boosters and funded program needs for the marching band. Hundreds of vehicles went through the wash tunnels, creating $3,500 in donations that supported local students.
“This generous contribution will help to facilitate the re-hiring of our coaching staff, the purchase of future equipment, and help alleviate transportation costs to various performances around the community,” said Mike Yaros, director of bands at Stevenson High School. “The Titan Marching Band is looking to perform at America’s Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit this year, and because of El Car Wash, if selected by the Parade Company to perform, we will likely have the funds to accomplish this.”
The grand opening featured a performance from the marching band and a ribbon cutting ceremony with local leaders. Guests met Detroit Lions mascot Roary and the Lions Cheer Squad, enjoyed live music by DJ Ray Yadig, and received free washes on opening day. Local favorites including Vito’s Bakery, Miller’s Orchard, The Mean Weenie and Meadowbrook Ice Cream Company provided giveaways. A few winners also took home a year of unlimited car washes.
El Car Wash Sterling Heights, located at 1978 Metro Pkwy., expands the brand’s Michigan footprint. The chain now operates more than 80 locations across Florida and Michigan, serving over 400,000 members nationwide. All company locations offer amenities such as dash wipes, glass cleaner, towels, compressed air, interior cleaner and more to enhance the experience. El Car Wash Michigan plans to continue investing in the state, with 30 metro Detroit locations scheduled to open by the end of 2027 and more to follow.
