AVW Equipment Employees Build Playset for Child Facing Cancer Through Roc Solid Volunteer Day

Family-owned car wash equipment manufacturer brings employees together for a hands-on community project.

MAYWOOD, Ill., October 22, 2026 — Nearly two dozen AVW Equipment Company volunteers helped assemble and install a backyard playset for a child facing cancer on July 28, 2026, through a Volunteer Day with Roc Solid Foundation.

Employees contributed their time and labor across assembly, installation and supporting tasks, helping create a dedicated place for the child to play close to home. The project supported Roc Solid’s mission of building hope for children and families affected by pediatric cancer through the power of play.

“When a child is facing cancer, the whole family carries that weight,” said Nina Djordjevic, CSR Team Manager. “We can’t take that burden away, but we can give our time to help create moments that belong to childhood: playing outside, laughing and making memories together. Knowing our team could help make room for those moments made this a meaningful way to spend the day.”

For AVW, a family-owned manufacturer serving the car wash industry for more than 50 years, the project provided an opportunity for employees to contribute their skills outside the workplace while supporting a family facing a difficult experience.

AVW thanked Roc Solid Foundation for coordinating the opportunity and the employees who participated in the build.
