LAS VEGAS (April 16, 2026) – In honor of Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, WOW Carwash is highlighting how its car wash supports environmental sustainability.
- Uses less water – Washing a car at home uses roughly 100 gallons of water. By comparison, WOW uses 30 gallons per vehicle and reclaims up to 80% of the water.
- Water reclamation – WOW Carwash goes above and beyond with its advanced water reclamation system. While local car washes are only required to have one sand & oil separator, WOW Carwash has four. It also uses a “mud tank” and high-tech UV filters to recycle the water, which reduces the amount of water used daily, and ensures no solids are sent to the sewer system, keeping local water systems clean.
- How it works: All water from a WOW Carwash enters a 1,500-gallon mud tank that is underground at each WOW location to begin separating soils from the water. The water from the mud tank then passes into a series of four sand & oil separators through which oils float to the surface, and soils sink to the bottom. Then the cleaned water is pumped through a series of UV and micron filters that remove any last contaminants so the water can be fully recycled and reused in the carwash.
- Repurposes the dirt that is washed off – All of the water reclamation tanks are pumped on a regular basis by licensed vacuum trucks to maintain peak efficiency. What is pumped out is then utilized as fertilizer.
- Safe, biodegradable soaps – All cleaning agents used in WOW’s tunnel wash process are environmentally safe and biodegradable. The soaps WOW uses are safe to the human touch and for a vehicle's paint, yet they are still tough on dirt. These cleaning agents break down naturally, mitigating the harmful runoff that would normally flow into storm drains and eventually enter our local waterways.
- Energy-efficient equipment to reduce the carbon footprint.

Pomerantz added that WOW is actively researching, finding, and implementing new methods to reduce the total gallons of water used per wash. This includes turning off unnecessary rinses, testing more efficient nozzles, and increasing reclaimed water usage.
