Utilize the following special promotion, “Workin’ at the Car Wash,” to increase traffic to your business. A carwash fundraiser is a popular way for community and school groups to raise money, as well as a convenient way for citizens to support local causes. As a car wash owner, this event is a great vehicle for you to do your part for the community while also emphasizing the Car Love message.
Here are some creative ways to promote your event:
Invite community organizations to hold their car wash fundraisers in conjunction with your business. (View Sample Invite Letter ) Designate a few hours or even a full day for these events. While cars go through the regular professional wash, organization members can help with other duties, such as hand drying and polishing, vacuuming and car mat washing. Donate a percentage of the proceeds during the allotted time to the organization, as well as 100% of the tips organization members receive.
Be sure to also promote your Car Love:
- Welcome the organization on your marquee
- Post signage copy: “Share Car Love with Bobcats Little League”
- Work with the organization to publicize the fundraiser by sending a media alert to your local newspaper (View Sample Media Alert)
- Place an ad in your local newspaper
- After the event, send outcome results to the local newspaper. Include total money raised, how many cars were washed, names of volunteers, etc.
Great key messages to share with reporters include:
- People love (NAME OF COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION) and their cars - and a professional car wash is a great way to share that love
- We didn’t forget the environmental issues – your partnership will save the community approximately half the amount of water non-professional washing will consume, as well as make sure the dirty water is treated before leaving the facility
