VIDEO: For the Love of Car Wash

Apr 22, 2014

Shortly after birth, in 1981, Brian Campbell was forced to undergo several surgeries including, heart surgery. When he was 6 months old, he was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome – a rare genetic disorder that doctors said gave Brian a ten-year life expectancy. There are lots of things that make Brian special, but one of the things we enjoy most is his love of car washing.

From an early age, Brian was fascinated by the colors, movement and excitement of car washes. In 1993, he attended his first ICA show and has been coming every year since thanks to the generosity of a group of car wash owners who pay for his family’s travel expenses.

The trade show floor is also one of Brian’s favorite places to be – he can tell you about new products and features better than some of the booth personnel. He truly is car washing’s “#1 Fan.”

Brian truly has been an inspiration to many in the industry. He has never owned a car wash, but he is as much a part of our family as anyone – and being with him is one of the joys of our show. Because Brian has inspired our hearts,  he has inspired a new program. Beginning next year, we will be tallying attendee votes at The Car Wash Show to present one exhibiting company with the “Brian Campbell People’s Choice Booth Award.”

To Brian, and his family, thank you for inspiring all of us, and reminding us all that what’s most important about our businesses are the people we care about and serve.
