Car Care World Expo™ 2010 Shows Signs of Growth, Honors Leaders and Expands WaterSavers™ Program

More than 5,000 car wash professionals from around the globe gathered at Car Care World Expo 2010 on May 12-14 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Car Care World Expo continues to be the place to discover more proven ways to grow your business and define your advantage in the competitive car wash industry

And, here are just a few of the Expo's highlights:

Where car wash professionals meet
The Expo remains the world's largest car wash convention and trade show, attracting 5,512 car wash equipment buyers and sellers. 68% of all attendees represent buyers of car wash equipment or supplies from 5,924 retail car wash locations, an increase in locations over previous years.

A larger trade show floor
Car Care World Expo 2010 delivered the largest expo floor in the world for car wash equipment buyers, covering more square feet over 2009. This year’s trade show floor featured 305 exhibiting companies and 125,050 net square feet of exhibit floor space.

Significant growth in education program
Operators adding education and training to their Car Care World Expo experience recorded a 50% increase, from 600 attendees to 900 attendees, over 2009 education attendance numbers. In addition, the two in-depth, pre-Expo seminars held May 11 – New Investor Seminar and Petroleum Marketer Seminar – both recorded a more than 50% increase in attendance over last year’s numbers.

WaterSavers reaches nearly 1,000 locations in North America
The International Carwash Association’s environmental recognition program, WaterSavers, achieved 150 new locations around the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, putting the number of locations in this year-old program near 1,000 in North America. Several new WaterSavers Partners were enrolled in the program, too. Association headquarters held three informational sessions on the WaterSavers program which were well attended.

Industry leaders honored

Several awards were presented during the Expo’s featured general session, Honors and Actions, held Thursday, May 11 at the Hilton Las Vegas. Eric Wulf, International Carwash Association Executive Director, presented the industry’s top honors to leaders in car wash technology innovation, environmental stewardship and inducted another member into the Car Wash Hall of Fame.

  • 2010 Brian Campbell Leadership in Innovation Award: Jan Van Kessel, President, Kesseltronics
  • 2010 Environmental Leadership Award: Gary Hirsh, President, New Wave Industries
  • 2010 Car Wash Hall of Fame: Mike Mountz, CEO, Cloister Wash & Lube (pictured below)

Cost savings opportunities
To enhance attendance ROI and make the Expo more affordable to attend, the Expo was condensed, from four to three days and ended on a Friday afternoon to allow ample time to travel and return to a business for the busy weekend rush.

See you in 2011!
